The legacy behind Nami Rou

Nami Rou is a name rooted in family. “Nami” honors Deidre Mercer's grandmother, Naomi, and “Rou” comes from her Aunt Tracie's married name. She brought their names together to honor two women connected to a family tradition where food has always meant more than simply having something to eat.

Some of the family's most meaningful moments happened around the table. They cooked together, served one another, shared life, and received wisdom over a hot meal. Food had a way of bringing everyone together.

Deidre's own love for cooking started early. When she was four years old, her mother gave her a kitchen set for Christmas, and something about that gift stayed with her. As she grew older, she learned alongside her grandmother, watching how she cooked, asking questions, picking up techniques, and eventually developing a style of her own.

That same care is at the heart of Nami Rou today. Each meal is prepared in small batches, cooked to order, and delivered with the same intention she learned growing up: food should be made with care, served with love, and worth looking forward to.

“For me, cooking is more than preparing a meal. It is a way to carry forward what was poured into me and share it with someone else.”
